Bestselling author Michael Grant visits the Academy

As part of the World Book day celebrations, international Bestselling author Michael Grant visited Madeley Academy on Tuesday 28th February. Michael Grant is known as ‘the evil genius of Young Adult fiction’. He is the author of the International bestselling GONE series, as well as the ground-breaking BZRK trilogy and Messenger of Fear duology. Madeley Academy was one of only ten schools and libraries that Michael visited during his short visit to the UK from his home in San Francisco.

Michael talked to students about his latest book ‘Silver Stars’, the sequel to ‘Front Lines’ set in an alternate World War 2. Silver Stars and his World Book Day titles Dead of Night are published in paperback by Egmont Children’s Books. Organisers from Authors Aloud and Booka Bookshop, Oswestry, were proud to bring literature to life for students and Kate Barnes, Assistant Headteacher at Madeley Academy, said students were enthused by Michael’s talk; several students bought a signed copy of his books which they will now treasure. The event is part of Madeley Academy’s celebrations for World Book Day which also sees staff dressing as their favourite book characters for a student competition on Thursday 2nd March (2017’s World Book Day).
