The game went to penalties where Madeley Academy’s goalkeeper, Jimmy Thomas, saved two of Thomas Telford’s three attempts. Three of Madeley’s players then took their own penalties, successfully scoring them all. Player Oliver Oakley said: “We played well. Our defence was solid. All the lads that took penalties were brave enough to step up and we did well with it.” Player Zayn Clarke-Owen said: “It was a well-deserved victory. There was no lapse of concentration considering we were unlucky in the county cup final.” The team celebrated rightfully on their last penalty score, as PE teacher Mr Hall and Maths teacher Mr Samra watched the new District Cup champions proudly. However, the team did not let this deter them, winning 3-1 in a rematch against Idsall during the District Cup final at Telford United Stadium on the 12th of May. The boys defended their District Cup champion title with three goals. Will Fraser scored the first into the bottom corner of the net, following up a near miss off the goal post. Ercall Wood then stole the lead taking the game to 5-3. The boys continued to fight with Jake Churm attempting a travella that was unfortunately deemed a no goal by the linesman, despite the team and coach believing otherwise. Undeterred, Giuseppe Banahene scored a header towards the end of the game, leaving the results at an unlucky 5-4 loss. The boys’ spirits were not broken though. Determined player Chris Asi said: "I felt good about how we played, but we didn't play our best. Next time, obviously I'll score."
