About Madeley

We are a successful, popular and well-respected 11-18 Academy with a unique ethos. We believe that creating an atmosphere of trust and care is conducive to effective learning. Our Academy is a community in which students, staff and parents are part of a happy, safe and caring environment. We are focused on success.

Based in the historic mining town of Madeley in Telford, our facility is ‘state of the art’ and we are committed to preserving this first class learning environment for our students. We have a 48 place fitness studio and a dedicated Vocational Training Centre.  Students are encouraged to participate in a vast range of activities on offer from 3.15pm until 4.30pm daily.

Madeley Academy welcomes children of all abilities and children with physical disabilities. The published Pupil Admission Number (PAN) into Year 7 is 180 for admission in September 2023. If the Academy does not receive 180 applications, every applicant will be offered a place. However, if the Academy is oversubscribed, all children who apply for a place at the Academy will be invited to attend a non-verbal reasoning assessment which will last for one hour and will be held at Madeley Academy. Our sponsor is Thomas Telford School which has been the top performing comprehensive school in the country for over 20 years. Madeley Academy reopened its doors in September 2009 with a brand new, state of the art building that is fully equipped to aid students and teachers in teaching and learning.
