About Madeley

We are a successful, popular and well-respected 11-18 Academy with a unique ethos. We believe that creating an atmosphere of trust and care is conducive to effective learning. Our Academy is a community in which students, staff and parents are part of a happy, safe and caring environment. We are focused on success.

Based in the historic mining town of Madeley in Telford, our facility is ‘state of the art’ and we are committed to preserving this first class learning environment for our students. We have a 48 place fitness studio and a dedicated Vocational Training Centre.  Students are encouraged to participate in a vast range of activities on offer from 3.15pm until 5.15pm daily.

Madeley Academy welcomes children of all abilities and children with physical disabilities. The published Pupil Admission Number (PAN) into Year 7 is 180 for admission in September 2019. If the Academy does not receive 180 applications, every applicant will be offered a place. However, if the Academy is oversubscribed, all children who apply for a place at the Academy will be invited to attend a non-verbal reasoning assessment which will last for one hour and will be held at Madeley Academy. Children cannot “fail” the assessment. For more details on admissions please see the 2019 Academy Prospectus and Admissions Policy

Our sponsor is Thomas Telford School which has been the top performing comprehensive school in the country for over 20 years. Students and staff benefit considerably by being part of the TTMAT which also includes Walsall and Sandwell Academies together with Redhill Primary School.

Here are some quotes from our most recent Ofsted Inspection:

“Your promotion of a culture of high aspirations and respect for others has led to pupils having positive attitudes to learning, being self-motivated and having confidence”

“Pupils say their lessons are interesting and full of challenge and that they get very good support from their teachers. They value the relationships they have with their teachers, and said the teachers really make you want to come to school”

“A strong culture of safeguarding is evident throughout the school. Pupils feel very safe”
