Maths Challenge

On Monday 15^th of July, some of our year 8 students went to Shrewsbury Priory School to compete in a Maths Competition run by the advanced mathematics programme; the students competed the challenge with success, winning a Teamwork award and Overall Score award. The School was split into two teams, Madeley Academy A and Madeley Academy B. The competition involved three rounds of problem solving and reasoning tasks.   Madeley Academy B managed to achieve the certificate for the highest score in the competition, and Madeley Academy A achieved an award for the best teamwork demonstrated. The hall, where the competition took place, was completely full of students and even though Madeley Academy A was the only team with just 2 members, they still did amazing. The students were given refreshments and snacks provided by the school.  Overall, it was an enjoyable experience, and our students did excellently. By Connor Lake, Yr 8.
