Kit De Waal visits Madeley Academy

Year 10 and 11 were given the opportunity to meet the established author, Kit De Waal.

She spoke to the students about her early struggles in life growing up and how she grew as a person to become an author. The students had a chance to ask the author any questions, which were specifically focused towards her book ‘My name is Leon’ which the pupils read in class. This book is her most famous from her bibliography, as it has been turned into a film produced by the BBC and is also used in the AQA exam curriculum. She helped any students who are aspiring authors on where to begin their journey and gave advice on how to get published. She spoke about her experiences in the publishing industry and what inspired her to become an author. The students were very inspired by her visit.
