Healthcare Careers Trip

Mon, 10 Dec 2018

6.1 students enjoyed a fantastic taster experience at the Staffordshire University campus at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on Friday last week finding out about a career as a Nurse, a Midwife, a Paramedic or as an Operating Department Practitioner.

As well as hearing from course tutors about the differences between these 4 healthcare areas, students had the opportunity to get hands-on in the clinical skills labs, working on life-size dolls which can simulate conditions such as cardiac arrest. Students gained a realistic view of what life is like in each of these roles and understand the academic and work experience entry requirements for the courses.

The staff at Staffordshire University even provided a short Study Skills workshop for the students so they could understand the kind of academic writing they would need to complete alongside their practical skills.

A big thank you to Staffordshire University for providing such a comprehensive taster day for students!
