The Mayor’s Seaside Art Competition March 2013

Young people across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales were invited to take part in an art competition to create a ‘seaside’ picture for the new garden room at the New Children’s Unit at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.  Due to open summer 2014, the units will be for children who need to stay in hospital overnight.  It will also be for children who have an appointment, need monitoring in their Children’s Assessment Unit or if they are having treatment for cancer. 

The Mayor was delighted to receive so many entries from Madeley Academy and commented that the standard of entries was exceptionally high.

The Art department are pleased to announce that Oliver Peart in Yr 7 won the Art competition for Secondary Schools.  He will have his artwork displayed in the garden room at the New Children’s Unit once open.  Oliver has been invited to join the Mayor for tea and cakes and he will later attend the opening of the new Women and Children’s Unit.  Well done Oliver!
