‘So you want to be a doctor’ Conference at Keele University

Wed, 13 Mar 2019

A group of budding prospective medical students took part in a medicine careers conference at Keele Univeristy’s Medical School last week. The students enjoyed meeting a variety of doctors at various stages of their careers and also had the opportunity take part in workshops focussing on infection control, urinanalysis, peak flow and the anatomy of the heart, lungs and kidneys.

Keele University’s Director of Medicine Admissions Dr Gordon Dent, took the students through the entry requirements for medical school and stressed the importance of thorough preparation for the admissions tests.  More than ever, our students considering applying for medical school need a clear understanding of the different selection methods used by universities as well an idea of the pathways into different medical careers.

It was a fascinating conference which the students all enjoyed immensely.  The Careers Team will look forward to supporting some of these students to apply for medicine degree courses in the Autumn term.
