Micro-Tyco Challenge

Fri, 19 Dec 2014

Throughout the month of November, Year 8 Enterprise students took part in the Micro-Tyco Challenge where small teams were each given £1 and had to use their entrepreneurial skills in order to grow this ‘seed capital’ into as much money as possible.

The students had to be creative as they only had a small budget and a time limit of one month so had to make use of the resources around them as well as calling on family, friends and Academy staff to help out.

During the challenge there were a number of activities taking place such as cake sales, car washing, and crossbar challenge as well a Year 7 and 8 ‘selfie’ disco where the students hired a DJ and arranged for selfies to be projected onto the big screen!

In total, Year 8 made an impressive total of £538.91, all of which has been donated to the Wildhearts Foundation who give ‘micro-loans’ to disadvantaged female entrepreneurs in the developing world to enable them to become self-reliant, successful business people.
