Author Matt Dickenson visits Madeley Academy

Recently  Year 9 and Year 11 had the privilege of being visited by the author Matt Dickinson, the author of books like ‘The Everest Files’ and ‘The Death Zone’. He spoke to the students about his travels and experiences in being a filmmaker and an author. Not only this, but Matt is also an experienced mountaineer, having scaled Mt Everest four times! He educated Year 11 groups using engaging tips on how to successfully write a creative writing story, by focusing on different perspectives, and taught the students how to manoeuvre a career in the creative sector. He also educated the Year 9 groups on the ethical issues with scaling the mountain and debated with them about the pros and cons of keeping Mt Everest open.
