Equal Opportunities

Madeley Academy welcomes all applicants regardless of colour, race, religious belief, nationality, sexuality, ethnicity, disability or background.

Education Maintenance Allowance

Students may be eligible for up to £30 per week for choosing to stay in education. The Education Maintenance Allowance is paid to Post-16 students from  low-income families following full-time courses.

Application forms are available from the Post 16 office.

Help and advice will be provided to complete them if required.

Bursaries

Bursaries and Business  Sponsorships may be available for our students on a termly basis.  These bursaries are awarded to students who are in need of financial assistance due to circumstances outside of their control.  There may be the possibility that students will secure Business Sponsorship to help them financially through Higher Education and Training.

Opportunities to Go Out to Work

All students are given the opportunity to experience a work placement.  With employers actively involved in the full life of the Academy, students have the opportunity to work alongside industrialists on site and in the workplace.

Extra-Curricular Opportunities

Leisure and Sport

An important feature of life at Madeley Academy will be the Sixth Form options programme on Wednesday afternoons.  Everyone needs time to relax and develop new hobbies, try new leisure activities or pursue different sports.  Students are positively encouraged to "have a go" at something new or challenging.  The options (which provide a wide spectrum of choice) are all offered on a Wednesday afternoon during Session 2.

Here is a flavour of the choices that will be available in 2011:

Duke of Edinburgh, First Aid, Golf, Martial Arts, Football, Basketball, Badminton, Fitness Training, Sports Leadership Awards, Dance, Music, Drama, Independant Study at the Academy or at home.

Personal Advice & Guidance

Tutors will continue to be the first point of contact for Parents/Carers.  Their role will be to monitor progress, agree targets and negotiate timescales so that the demanding workload can be effectively managed.
